This 12 volt light dimmer is a low side pulse width modulated device. It turns the circuit from full on to full off approximately 80 times per second and for this reason this dimmer is perfect for LED lighting. By varying the width of the pulses the circuit goes from full width pulse (maximum brightness) to a narrow width pulse (maximum dim).
Depending on the load, each time it turns on (80 times per second) a voltage surge occurs. This can create electronic noise and this noise can disrupt entertainment devices that are on the same fuse. Incandescent & LED lighting typically do not cause a problem. Halogen lighting is the leading cause of interference due to the heavy turn on surge current coupled with inadequate wiring guage size.
An ideal situation would be for the dimming circuit to have dedicated wire of large enough capacity and ran directly from the battery post so it will not modulate the electrical systems with pulse width modulated spikes.
The operating range of this dimmer is 9VDC to 16VDC and requires a battery regulated power supply (standard RV converter or inverter / converter combo for battery charging needs).

Typically low side dimmers are used for cabinetry lighting where as the ground circuit can easily be rewired.
